Vorige week hebben Bodi en ik mee gedaan met onze eerste officixeble WorkingTest. Voor diegene die niet helemaal thuis zijn in de jachtproeven even een uitleg: er is een verschil tussen o.a. Clubdiploma en WorkingTest. Bij de eerste krijg je altijd dezelfde opdrachten. Je weet dus vooraf wat je kan verwachten. Als je een clubdiploma hebt behaald (het eerste niveau is C, daarna B en dan A) dan mag je meedoen met de Workingtests op dat niveau. De WT is meer op de praktijk gericht en je weet vooraf ook niet welke oefeningen je krijgt. Vaak zijn er ook meerdere dummies bij een oefening die je hond moet binnenhalen.
In het voorjaar hebben Bodi en ik het clubdiploma C gehaald, dus we mochten nu met een WT op C niveau meedoen. Dat Bodi dit kon dat wist ik wel, maar of ik er ook aan toe was, dat was nog even de vraag: het is ook een kwestie van ervaring opdoen, bedenken als je een opdracht krijgt welke commandox92s je wanneer aan je hond geeft etc. Van de 10 dummies die Bodi moest binnenhalen bij in totaal 5 verschillende oefeningen had hij er 8 op tijd binnen. Maar als niet alle dummies binnengehaald zijn, wil dat niet persxe9 zeggen dat je geen certificaat hebt: voor iedere proef kan je in totaal 20 punten halen. Bij 60 punten heb je het certificaat. Al gaat xe9xe9n proef dus behoorlijk mis, maar de rest gaat wel goed, dan kan je dus nog steeds 60 punten halen.
Bij een clubdiploma wordt het nog wel een keertje door de vingers gezien als je hond piept, maar bij een WT zijn ze daar een stuk strenger in: als de hond tijdens de jacht zou piepen rent of vliegt al het wild natuurlijk zo weg. De laatste maanden heb ik met Bodi er veel op de rust in de oefeningen getraind. Hij is (vooral bij het water) erg enthousiast als hij mag werken, en bij een Toller resulteert dat dan snel in piepen. En met resultaat: tijdens de WT was hij stil bij alle oefeningen! Van een keurmeester kregen we zelfs de opmerking dat hij mooi rustig wasx85zeker voor een Toller!
Uiteindelijk kwamen we uit op 63 punten. Hiermee stonden we op de 11e plaats van de 21 Retrievers (14 hadden het certificaat behaald) die meededen voor het C-niveau. Zeker voor een eerste keer een mooie prestatie.

Last week, Bodi and I entered our first official WorkingTest. For those who are not fully into hunting tests: there is a difference between diplomas and workingtests. In the first you always get the same assignments. So you know in advance what to expect. If you have achieved a diploma (the first level is C, then B, then A) you may join the WorkingTest at that level. The WT is more practical oriented and you donx92t know in advance what assignments you get. Often there are in an exercise also several dummies that your dog should get.
In spring, Bodi and I achieved the diploma C degree, so we now are allowed to enter a WT at C-level. I knew Bodi was ready for the WT, but if I am was the question: it is also a matter of experience, deciding at the assignment what commands to give your dog etc. Of the 10 dummies Bodi had to apport in a total of 5 different exercises, he retrieved eight on time. But if not all dummies are brought in, it does not necessarily mean that you do not have a certificate: for every test you can get a total of 20 points. With 60 points you have the certificate. So even if one assignment went wrong, but the rest is good, you still can get 60 points.
With a diplomatest it is sometimes a bit allowed if your dog x93makes some noisex94, but at a WT they are a lot stricter: if the dog would squeak during the hunt all the game of course runs or flies away. In recent months, I trained Bodi much in the rest/calm of the training exercises. He is (especially in the water) very excited when he can work, and this results in a Toller quickly in x93squeakingx94. And with success: he was quiet during all WT exercises! There even was a judge saying he was pretty calm and quiet … especially for a Toller!
Eventually we got a total of 63 points. By this we were in 11th place of 21 Retrievers (14 had obtained the certificate) that participated in the C-level. Certainly for the first time a fine performance.
